Reserve Wines was born out of an intimidating visit to a local wine shop – who hasn’t experienced that?! Determined to create a friendly and inspiring community around wine and give customers a really good time, Reserve Wines founder Kate Goodman opened her first shop in leafy West Didsbury, Manchester in 2003.
In the early days, Kate turned to YouTube to share her expertise and make learning about wine fun. She was scouted by none other than the BBC, who invited her to be the Wine Expert for their Food and Drink Programme. Working alongside world famous chefs such as Michel Roux Jnr means there’s not much Kate doesn’t know about how to perfectly pair wine with food.
Fast forward several years and Reserve Wines has expanded to six sites across Manchester, including three wine bars and an online shop.
The big dream is to become the nation’s favourite indie wine company and although we’re growing, we’re still fiercely independent and committed to great service. We’ll always be proud of our Mancunian roots too. That’s why we work to give back to our community, supporting local charity Depher to supply vulnerable households with free and subsidised emergency heating and plumbing services and working with Manchester Cares to combat loneliness in young and old communities alike across the city.
As for our wine, we’ll always promise you three things. Everything we sell tastes great, has a personality and is a stunner for its price. We champion interesting, quality-driven wines from all corners of the globe and for all budgets, made by people who really care about each and every bottle. And because we’ve always wanted to do things differently, we’re proud to offer wines by the keg in our sites too.
